Shifts in demographics, economics, climate, and culture are reshaping how we live—and challenging us to reconsider who we build for. This series explores that moment through the lens of research, design, and forward-thinking leadership. The Future We Build brings together leading voices in urban design, policy, sustainability, and development to examine the forces shaping our cities today—and the possibilities ahead. From housing and zoning to resilience and collaboration, each chapter highlights both the challenges we face and the solutions within reach. This is an invitation to think differently: to imagine cities that are more connected, more resilient, and more human—and to consider what it means to build not just for today, but for the future South Florida deserves.
